After the increase in oil and gas prices and tremendous potential that the Wind Corridor in Pakistan presents, Wind Energy appealed as the most viable and long term solution for a country like Pakistan. Based on this, Gul Ahmed Group, under the Government of Pakistan’s (GOP) Policy for Development of Renewable Energy for Power Generation 2006, applied Letter of Intent (LOI) for 1×50 MW wind power generation project, namely Gul Ahmed Wind Power Limited. The company has signed its finance documents and should start its electricity generation by December 2016.

The proposed wind farm site is located in the south of Pakistan, i.e. between Karachi & Hyderabad in Jhimpir. It is located approximately 100 km inland from the coast in a semi desert area, the nearest habitat being Jhimpir (2.5 km southeast) and Nooriabad (22 km North-west). The project is located beside its group company’s wind Project, Metro power Company Ltd. The project site is also adjacent to Super Highway which provides a clear access to the Gul Ahmed Wind Power Project site. The site is approximately 643 acres of land, and will install 20 x 2.5 MW Nordex turbines for its 50MW wind power plant.
